Dr Vrinda Nampoothiri is a clinical pharmacist by background and has recently completed her PhD in Health Sciences Research from Amrita University, India. She has been working very closely with the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) program right from its inception at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, Kerala, India, playing a key role in the development of the clinical pharmacist driven audit of antimicrobials and various other quality improvement initiatives in the hospital, in addition to providing AMS training to pharmacy students, pharmacists and other health care professionals. Dr Nampoothiri is also working in social science research projects in collaboration with universities in India, the UK and South Africa. She currently leads the Infectious Diseases Forum under the Federation of Clinical Pharmacists in India and has been selected as an Emerging Leader in International Infectious Diseases by the International Society for Infectious Diseases. She has also been invited as a speaker to various national and international scientific events including ID Week 2021, CIDSCON 2023 and has several publications to her credit.
