Three years ago, Nivarana was a quiet idea sown in our minds, born of longing, reflection, hope, and a desperate need to make change. What started as a personal blog has since been nurtured by a team of kind, courageous, and compassionate individuals who rebuilt it from scratch, not once, but twice, after our progress was wiped from the internet.

Nivarana is no longer just a “website” or an “online platform”. It has become a way of life - an ideology grounded in the belief that a more just, equitable, and inclusive community is possible, where no one is systematically silenced or oppressed.

Over the past three years, we've supported over 80 first-time writers and published nearly 150 articles that don’t just simplify scientific evidence, but also tell the stories that data often hides. Through more than 20 community forums, we’ve explored solutions to challenges faced by marginalized communities and communicated them to those in power through academic publications, emails, and even WhatsApp messages.

Our work has traveled beyond our own website and been featured on The Wire, Scroll, Think Global Health, The News Minute, and other leading platforms. But more than reach, what matters most to us is the trust placed in us by thousands of readers who continue to engage with, share, and support our work.

What once was a tiny seed now stands as a growing sampling rooted in the spirit of community and nourished by co-learning.

Our new logo marks this transition: from seed to peepal leaf. The peepal tree, sacred in Buddhism, offers shade, breath, and wisdom. Its delicate skeleton carries a powerful message: a living network, like the one we are building, of people grounded in the soil of community, working towards equity, justice, and health for all.

Nivarana means the easing of suffering. As we enter this new phase, we carry forward our purpose of addressing suffering by bringing unheard stories to light, to amplify voices at the margins, and to grow gently, together.

Thank you for walking with us. Let us continue resisting and building change, one article, one story, and one solution at a time.
