An illustration that depicts the past and the present of our healthcare system.
Until a few years ago, healthcare professionals would use their judgment and empathy to practice patient-centered care using the help of tools provided by the medical-industrial complex. However, over the decades since India's independence, the push towards globalization, privatization, and commodification of healthcare has relegated values like empathy and need-based medical practice to a luxury few can afford.
This comic aims to depict the evolving landscape of healthcare in India and highlight the urgent need for a strong countervailing force to influence government health expenditure and policy.
